The site of the now demolished Hamworthy Station occupies an exceptional and highly visible waterside location fronting Holes Bay and the Backwater Channel which leads to the world renowned Poole Harbour.
The new ‘Twin Sails’ lifting bridge which opened in April 2012 provides direct access into the site where the associated highway links were constructed by Gallagher.
Currently, the site is allocated for residential development in the Poole Borough Council Local Plan, and more recently in the Adopted Core Strategy and Site Allocations Development Plan Document.
The development will provide a range of housing and apartments together with a new public quayside opening up access to the waterfront and A1-A3 uses. The project is the culmination of over 10 years of engagement with the local community.
The scheme will result in a development that the whole of Poole can both enjoy and be proud of – a real credit to the town.
